Ron Paul’s Top Contributors – Follow the Money

So who is supporting that crazy congressman from Texas? It may come as a surprise to those that are not informed about his message, but his top 3 contributors in order are:

1. U.S. Army
2. U.S. Navy
3. U.S. Air Force

The Department of Defense comes in at #19.

John McCain’s top 3 are:
1. Merrill Lynch
2. Citigroup, Inc
3. Blank Rome , LLP

Neither the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Air Force show up in John McCain’s top 20 contributors.

The money has come from the PACs for these organizations. Here is the link to the full list of 1-20, Full List

It’s not correct to say “the money has come from the PACs for these organizations”. As the link says, ” The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization’s PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. ”

In reality, these companies don’t have PACs (well, not the ones donating to Ron Paul, anyway). It is simply the individual employees of the company, donating, and registering their employer at the time of donation. They are all unaffiliated individuals.

It’s pretty impressive to have the top three donors-by-employer being the military, when all the other candidates have lawyers, and merchant banks, and lobbyists.

It’s a clear message, and every voter needs to be aware of this, and think about it.

    lastnymleft,

I beg to differ. If say an employer gives you a bonus with a “strong” suggestion to donate this money to a campaign. It’s coming from the employer only hidden behind the individual’s name.

If you don’t think that the Investment Bankers are not doing this type of stuff, then you must also think that the press/media is free to report the truth.

    Just my .02,
    Daniel

As an individual contributer to Ron’s campaign I can confirm that my employer had noting to do with my contribution, or no knowledge thereof.

When you filled out the Donation form on RonPaul2008.com, the “Employer” field was required for submission. So I would guess that most folks just said who their employer was.

Relating employers to PAC’s is misleading.

What’s most amazing to me is that employees of the U.S. Postal Service rank 6th among Paul’s contributors.
